Congratulations Timrå! Timrå is #4 in northern Sweden when The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Svenskt Näringsliv) ranks the business climate in Sweden’s 290 municipalities. One determining factor for Timrå’s success is the outstanding service the municipality provides to the local companies.
With the catch phrase “Companies first!” Timrå has, for many years, worked hard to sustain and evolve their strong business climate. In 2016, Ewa Lindstrand, mayor of Timrå, described the strategy behind their success in an interview for High Coast Investment Magazine:
“- We want to do everything we can to make it as easy as possible for all business operators. In many respects, it’s about listening to the needs of businesses and having dialogue with them. This helps us create better foundations for a good business climate. Our focus is to make this a place where businesses want to operate and grow.
A business that locates to the High Coast of Sweden can expect open arms, the best help and streamlined establishment processes, no matter where in the region they decide to settle. Of course there are rules that must be followed, but it does not have to be complicated. Ewa Lindstrand stresses that they work in a variety of ways to simplify things in Timrå:
– We always ensure that newly established businesses get to meet a key official who coordinates the establishment process. This can include everything from coordinating which officers need to be involved and which government agencies need to be contacted, to providing help with permits and authorizations. For example, we have a rule that all building permit applications from businesses go to the head of the queue, says Ewa Lindstrand and concludes:
– We are agile and keen for everything to flow as smoothly as possible. We can open many doors and create the very best conditions for running a business here.”
