Interest in the Torsboda site in Timrå municipality is enormous. And if the Minister of Business and Industry, Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson is right, a big deal can be expected shortly.
Four major global companies connected to the battery industry have shown interest in Torsboda lately. During this spring and summer discussions have been held between them and the Swedish government. Since then, the dialogue has intensified.
When Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson visited the site in September the superlatives were many.
To Sundsvall Tidning the minister said, “It will be something. I can for sure say that it will happen, but decisions have to be made, and everything must fall into place”.
Torsboda is one of the world’s most interesting sites. There are many reasons why. It’s located in an attractive region with developed infrastructure, good access to green electricity, and not least, skilled competence from the process industries.
All factors are highly attractive in the battery industry. The well-functioning collaboration between Timrå, Sundsvall, and Härnösand is also highlighted, which High Coast Invest welcomes.
– We are of course very happy about the increased cooperation between the municipalities and the elevated efforts that have been made to prepare and package the location, says Maja Ulander, investment advisor at High Coast Invest
If, how and when is too early to answer, but the minister is sure of his cause. “There are global companies that are looking at the land, however, it is not done until it is signed, but I am very sure that it will happen here,” said Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson to Sundsvalls Tidning.
