In November, High Coast Invest joined an extensive delegation representing Västernorrland, Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Jämtland-Härjedalen to participate in European Hydrogen Week in Brussels.
With a strong focus on the green industrial transition, the initiative aimed to raise international awareness of Northern Sweden’s advancements within the hydrogen ecosystem and invite stakeholders to contribute to its continued development.
– By collaborating across regional borders and together with our EU office, we can showcase the best of Northern Sweden and demonstrate how we can tackle future challenges together, says Mikael Aamisepp, Director of Investment at High Coast Invest.
The delegation underscored the region’s strengths at the shared exhibition space, the North Sweden Pavilion, positioning Northern Sweden as a strategic destination for new investments in the green hydrogen value chain.
Networking Focused on Strategic EU-Level Interests
Throughout the week, roundtable discussions and networking events were organized in collaboration with the North Sweden European Office. These sessions offered key EU policymakers insights into Northern Sweden’s development efforts, tackling challenges and opportunities tied to legislative proposals under negotiation in the EU. These proposals are crucial to advancing the green transition in Northern Sweden.
Showcasing Regional Innovations
Innovative projects from the region were a key highlight, with companies such as Liquid Wind from Västernorrland drawing significant interest from attendees. Their work within eMethanol solutions exemplifies the forward-thinking spirit driving Northern Sweden’s green transition.
– European Hydrogen Week has truly shown how important it is for us to work together, both within the region and with national and international partners. It’s inspiring to see how far we’ve come and the opportunities ahead in the green transition, where hydrogen will play a key role, says Mikael Aamisepp.
